The golf swing

People confuse technique with motion.
If one does the motion first and once learn it then the swing stays with you. The golfer I coach was asked by a 77 year old who spent this year with 5 PGA trainers, 5! Trying to improve even at that age is impressive.

So he was taught what I talk about here on this website and started to hit the ball better naturally his first reaction was, but no technique? No keep this and do that. Hit balls.

I would do the same with Luke Donald, make him hit 50 yards longer and his mind would explode as it cant be this easy and simple. Once Boklov won ski jumping world cup by flying longer in the air than the others and even if his technique sucked he still won. The next year all the world ski jumpers shifted technique.

Why?

It was more fun and better.

I see the modern swingers at the clubs around here, I read forum posts about what the right elbow should do I read so many posts about lost golfers I cry my self to sleep.
The same thing also happens in the Mike Austin field, if you see Mike teach you find someone who likes to talk a lot. I also watch him view the swing and when he is happy with them the student still isn’t what he himself did do. So whenever someone tells me that I don’t understand Mike Austin swing system or the modern swing or the classical swing which I been told I don’t do, it’s the same thing I been told from NLP and from those in the Mythoself field also.

It seems I miss understand a lot.

Or am I?

Motion is a natural action we do unless its influenced by theory. Is there a optimal way to accelerate a object and make it perfect motion? Yes there is but I would never say that is the proper way to swing a golf club. You can prove a lot with math.

I stood in the indoor hall with my local golf PGA teacher and swung the club on the beat for an hour he got Goosebumps as he never seen anyone able to do what I did in his teachings.

So I knew I could do what he wanted me to do, I just found it to short for my liking and I worried a bit about my body holding up to it also. Once I figured out the Austin swing mechanics and you would guess it I don’t teach it the way he would have taught it and not likely the way any other teacher in the Austin camp either. I ask myself how could Mike swing at 160mph when none been there since? None of his students was able to.

I have students who been with me I would put up beside anyone in the NLP field and they do a job that none of the NLP crowd can do. They got a better model to work from.

One guy told me how elegant Joseph Riggio worked as he could elicit something with a question and I was like, who cares? He couldn’t teach that for sure.

What is elegance worth if your not able to teach it?

Mike Austin learned the swing motion he used without instruction, why would he later teach people to learn it the way he understood it? I don’t teach people things I understand about what I do, its simply to complicated. I teach your body to do the golf motion and once I am able to see it works the way it should and is stable then I adjust or tweak a detail o two. That is why it takes 2 days and 4 hours on the range for Hans Andersson to hit it better and longer, and I am not happy with his swing but he is.
I want a lot of other things to happen for him but those are not needed to do when your learning the motion.

Conceptual understanding layered upon what they body should do when it swings is the common way golf is taught and I state it’s a bad way to do it a really bad way. I seen Nick Faldo go from major winner to looser due to the same swing change he changed to also made him stop golf prematurely. He lost the athletic dynamic action over a few years and once it was lost, he never regained it.

Its been common to teach the way you understand the sport, either it be golf or other sports, we are easily seduced that we really understand its, that is why I limit my teaching so as little of what I know is taught, keep the C7 stable and I also give instruction how to do that and then it’s a discovery to learn to relate to this and once I see the motion as its there I can point it out and the golfer can use raw feedback feeling they hit it better. Hans is easy for me to work with, he trust what I do and whenever he ask a technical question I tell him to go fuck it. It will get in his way and make him hit worse shots.

Naturally he test that and tells me he it it worse and I say, what did I tell you?

Now, I never intended to be this good viewing the golf swing or even teach it as I wanted to apply what I did (RBIm) to improve my own golf game. It works for a 11 year old kid, a pro and a 77 year old and it works for me.

It will work for you to.

I know some want technique and if you want that there is a million or more people out there who you can talk to, with me?

Its motion, C7 and get the angle right and your on the way of greatness.
